Theme: Seeds for Growing a Spirited Life

As religious professionals and lay leaders who provide opportunities for faith development in our congregations and communities, we often find it a challenge to prioritize the feeding of our own souls through personal spiritual practice. Our theme speaker, the Rev. Meg Barnhouse, will explore the following questions: What does a spirited life look like? How do we know if we are growing one for ourselves and those who are in relationship with us? As those seeds grow, what does the flowering look like? What fruit do they produce? Not all spirited lives are the same. What is the one you would like to grow?

Our workshop presenters include Judith Frediani, Director of the Office of Lifespan Faith Development at the UUA and Aisha Hauser, Children and Families Program Director who will lead a series of participatory workshops on the new core, integrated lifespan curriculum Tapestry of Faith. In addition, we will offer workshops on spiritual development through SoulCollage®, body work, poetry, world music, sermon writing, and meditation.

General information: We recognize Religious Education as a lifelong endeavor, and offer programming to meet both the educational and personal needs of those new to and experienced in faith development for all ages. While traditionally a "working" conference, this week will provide ample opportunities for personal rejuvenation. Experience the joys of religious community, time to relax in solitude, and share the company of new and old friends and colleagues. There are programs and special events for all ages, beginning with children age three, with specific programming for youth and young adults.

Minister of the Week: Rev. David Carl Olson, minister@uuflint.org

Dean: Laura Beth Brown, lbrown@uucsr.org.
